Minecraft Maker's Newest Game Blends Cliffs, Horses And Dogecoin

Markus "Notch" Persson is mostly known as the creator behind Minecraft however, he's also making a name for himself with his quirky games that include everything from speed typing to existential drama. Cliffhorse the latest game from him is an example of. It's absurd as the title suggests. You play as a horse that is pushing a huge rock ball across cliffs. However, the bare-bones design (which took just two hours to build) is the main reason. Persson describes the game for Windows only as a jab at developers who abuse early access programs by charging money for "minimum effort" releases, in which the majority of the content will be released later. He is aware of the irony, considering that he purchased Minecraft long before it was finished.

In case the silliness of the project wasn't patently evident, Notch is only accepting voluntary Dogecoin donations for payment; you can download Cliffhorse completely for free, in the event that you like. It's just as well that there's no real profit-making model, as there's "no guarantee of future updates." Persson's parody may not be enough to convince you to pay him in virtual currency. However, the launch could be beneficial if it convinces some developers to put in some effort before they ask gamers to pay.
